Williams Lake, B.C., Weekly Report, June 11-15, 2018
June 28, 2018
Week of June 11th
We had a total of 14 volunteers at Williams Lake for the work week. Jerry Grosh and Becky Gochnauer from Lititz, Pennsylvania, visited the work sites this week to review the progress of the project. Vick Janzen from the British Columbia MDS board also visited the job site this week volunteering his time and working for two days.
The Scheffler residence continued to progress: walls were braced and the trusses were delivered on Tuesday afternoon. With a couple of experienced (retired) framers, the trusses got placed properly with all the detailed bracing in place. The roof plywood was completed by the end of Friday. Also, the deck joists and the bulk of the decking was in place by Friday p.m. Concerned about a change in weather (from the nice sunshine) the long term volunteers (cooks, office manager, crew leader and project director) went to the site on Saturday morning and placed/secured the roofing membrane.
On the Carlson home, forms were installed for porch supports; foundation walls were poured, using a concrete pumper. On Friday, foundation bracing and other support materials were removed and base plates were installed to start the framing process.
