Williams Lake, B.C., Weekly Report, July 8-14, 2018
July 26, 2018
On Sunday July 8 a youth group of 11 from Prairie Rose EMC from Landmark Manitoba arrived with enthusiasm to help rebuild homes after the BC fires.
At Joan Scheffler’s house they finished installing the vapour barrier on the walls and finishing all joints with acoustical sealant. Drywall was installed on the rest of the ceilings and the holes for pot lights were cut. Then dry-walling was started on the walls of this 2 bedroom house. The basement floor joist cavities were insulated and foam insulation was put in the gaps around the basement windows. The basement stairs were braced to specifications and the front deck roof posts were exchanged with bigger posts. Flashing and trim were installed around windows. Insulation stops were put up in the attic. Smart Board was started around the house.
At Jim & Sue Carlson’s house (the RV site) the Tyvek around the house was completed. The sheeting on the roof was also completed and facia was started. The kitchen cabinets were measured and drawn on paper, and a short wall moved to fit exact cabinet measurement. Basement stairs were re-enforced to home warranty inspector specifications. Electrical rough-in was started.
At Sandi Chilton’s house the last of the Fox Blocks were laid including the ones over the large rock. Rebar was cut and installed where needed. Lots of bracing for the blocks was done and good scaffolding was put up for cementing. On Thursday was cement pour day and because of all the great prep work, it took less than 2 hours to fill all the blocks. Great job everyone!! On Friday they removed the bracing.
Exciting reports were given after supper of visiting with homeowners and seeing wildlife.
