Idaho Unit

Welcome to the MDS Idaho Unit.

A thank you to MDS Idaho and Region 4

Michelle WhiteEagle and her husband Wayde recently sent a letter of thank you to the MDS Region 4 Board after experiencing the generosity of MDS volunteers.  Michelle was a caseworker for the MDS Kamiah project in 2016 and an MDS volunteer in Saipan in 2016. The Region 4 Board met in Seattle, Washington, September 15-16, 2017.

MDS Idaho and Region 4 built three homes in Kamiah

MDS volunteers from around the U.S. and Canada constructed three homes in Kamiah and Orofino, Idaho during 2016 and after the devastating 2015 fires.  In Kamiah nearly two dozen lightning strikes along with high winds sparked fires that moved up and over mountain sides, randomly destroying homes, fields and forests.  MDS Idaho Unit and MDS Region 4 built two homes in Kamiah.  In Orofino, high winds caused an electrical transformer to explode causing a fire that raged on the hillsides burning homes, trees and fields. MDS built one home in the hills above Orofino. MDS worked closely with the local recovery committee, local churches, businesses and the Red Cross. To volunteer contact Region 4.
