Wharton, TX – Weekly Report – Nov 4-8, 2019

November 12, 2019

A group of 5 short term volunteers from Woodland Hills Church in St. Paul, Minnesota joined us this week. Another young man from Ohio arrived on Monday having ridden a bus for 20 plus hours!  We are so appreciative of these one week volunteers who take time out of their regular schedules which often includes using vacation time.

We were able to finish the laminate flooring and hang most of the kitchen cabinets in Ms. Debra Byrd’s house. The local electricians have begun the last phase of wiring as well. Ms. Debra comes in as often as she can to check on the progress which is very exciting for her, and all of us!

The house of Mr. David Farris had the interior painted and the laminate flooring was completed. Mr. Farris has not come to see the house while we have been working, and we very much hope he will do so in the future. The volunteers enjoy that personal connection as want to turn the house into a home for him.

Next week’s work should include painting, more cabinets and tile work.

The group from Woodland Hills Church brought faith and love to their desire to serve God here and we all were encouraged by this. God encourages us and is never the voice of discouragement.

Thanks be to God!
