Wharton, TX – Weekly Report – Nov 11-15, 2019

November 26, 2019

Yes, like most everywhere else in North America, we too felt Winter grab us and give us a good shaking. Thankfully we did not receive the snow that other places did. Our new short term volunteer from Pennsylvania was a great addition to our group of 7 and he took the weather in good stride. It is always so encouraging to have people who come to help for a week.

We focused on Mr. David Farris’s house this week, continuing with painting, hanging cupboards, and placing baseboards. The electricians are at work and the outside was given a primer by the spray on team. Nice to have that done by a local trade. Saved us a lot of work!

Dennis Kauffman and Bruce Kindy also hung two storm doors for a previously completed MDS house by request of Wharton County Recovery Team.

A third home has been assigned to us, a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, also at the painting and finishing stages. We hope to begin work on that home next week and meet the homeowner.

It was good to have a variety of local people meet with Kevin King here this week. God has blessed Wharton with an abundance of people who want to share God’s love and take care of people.  All the people working to help the flood survivors here are top notch!

The flu season is here and our little band of volunteers has not escaped its reaches. Our assistant cook has been holed up in her tiny RV for many days.  God heals and we pray for him to protect and continue to restore.
