West Virginia – Weekly Report – March 22-26, 2021

March 30, 2021

Dave and Patti Hughes from Ohio served as Project Director and Office Manager this week. Kurt Melby continued as our equipment operator and Georgann Melby cooked for everyone. We were joined by a group of six from the Middlefield, Ohio area where Dave and Patti live.

Work was begun on a bridge for Mr. Lawrence Sloan. This bridge was located on a driveway with a steep incline before the bridge, so it was a challenge to get materials in the right place to work with them, and to get the cement truck in. The new bridge is to be forty feet in length.

Our volunteers worked hard all week and were able to get the foundation in, stem walls in, beams and braces set, and some of the gabion baskets filled. The decking will be added next week.

The weather was cooperative most days and some of the volunteers tried fishing in the creek behind our facility. Sadly, there are no pictures of large fish to post.
