Chipley, FL RV – Weekly Report – Jan 25-29, 2021

February 3, 2021

Our week started with heavy rain; our RV’s were surrounded by 2 to 3 inches of water.  Our couples, Lynn & Val Kipfer (Fishers, IN), Steve & Pam Haskins (Duncannon, PA), & Fred & Millie Hershey (Huntsville, AL) were not to be deterred.  A new job was started tearing out rotted wood from storm damage where a tree had fallen on the house during the hurricane (2+ years ago).  We will be repairing the damaged areas of her house.

Pam & Val spoke of a special wall in her bedroom; following is Pam’s reflection of it:

I have often shared with others how serving with MDS in the RV program is a life changing experience.  This week brought me to my knees, humbled.  Our small team began working on a very old house that was severely damaged when the hurricane blew an enormous tree onto it.  The roof was destroyed, windows broken, ceiling panels fell, the back wall is sagging, and there is extensive water damage.  What touched me was the owner’s bedroom wall.  A large tree is hand painted there, covered with paper leaves. On each leaf is a prayer request for someone she knows.  Yesterday, as I spoke to her about the house, she cried and said to me, “I just don’t want to be taking money away from others who probably need it more than me.”  I hugged her and cried with her. I will never be the same because of the impact of this ministry on my attitude, my understanding, and my strengthening faith.
