Chipley, FL RV – Weekly Report – Jan 11-15, 2021
January 27, 2021
This past week at the Chipley, Florida, RV site, we had six volunteers; Valerie & Lynn Kipfer from Indianapolis, IN, Pamela & Steve Haskins, from Duncannon, PA, and Fred & Millie Hershey from Huntsville, AL. We are enjoying the quiet secluded location of our RV site. The dark sky at night is awesome for stargazing!
We started work Monday, January 11th, all having completed quarantining. Our first two jobs were for a mother and son living across the road from one another. In the past year, roofs had been repaired or replaced from hurricane Michael, 2 years ago. Our team worked on repairing and replacing damaged ceilings because of leaking roofs. Steve and Lynn did a great job doing electrical repairs for ceiling lights and ceiling fan/light combos. We all worked on drywall, and painting throughout the week. We had a great time interacting with our home owners. Thursday, our client provided a delicious southern meal of fried chicken, biscuits, potato salad and fudge, and with the jobs completed we had a small house blessing together for mother and son.
A highlight of the week was meeting Flower, our clients pet skunk, whom she has had from a baby. Flower is very shy and only came out when carried by our client.
Friday Lynn & Fred went fishing in the lake behind our clients’ house. They learned to put crickets on the hook from our client, but it did not help them to be successful in catching fish!!!
Next week we will be starting 3 new smaller jobs, a continuation of repairs from storm damage.
