Chipley, FL RV – Weekly Report – Feb 10-14, 2020

February 19, 2020

We had a special house blessing this week.  On Saturday, we held a combined house blessing for Michelle Newton and her father and mother, Mike and Anne Ross. These homes were only a short distance apart some of us had worked on one while the other had worked on the other.  After a tearful service we were treated to a wonderful meal of grilled chicken, pulled pork, ribs, potato salad, beans, bread, and dessert.  Mike had grilled the meat on his homemade grill.  We left with our tummies full and felt blessed that we ladies did not have to cook any dinner.

Most of our week was spent at the home of Sharonda Thomas.  There we painted the rooms inside and painted the outside as well.  Vernon laid on his stomach on the roof and leaned over the side to do the soffit that could not be reached otherwise.  Jean and Cindy painted the siding a nice shade of tan while the trim was painted dark brown.  This covered a variety of greens.  What a difference a bit of paint makes.  The inside trim was all replaced, repaired, and painted.  All the doors were repaired and painted.  New flooring was installed in the bedroom and hallway.  Week before last all the ceilings had been replaced and mudded and spackled by a group from World Renew. This small house had had a complete makeover in two weeks and now Sharonda can move back home.  We will have a house blessing there on Monday.

This next week, our group will go back to the new build and start painting the walls and trim.  This weekend the homeowner was laying the tile in the entry ways so that we will not have trouble getting in and out of the house and will not disturb other workers.  This house is over 2000 square feet so we will not wonder what to do.  We hope to paint the trim before it is put up so it will be a challenge to keep ahead of the guys putting it around the windows and doors.

Norm and I were pleasantly surprised this afternoon when we were greeted by former MDS workers from Canada, Jake and Helen Wiebe.  We had worked with them on several projects in the past and since they were vacationing in Florida decided to surprise us. Meeting old friends is just one of the many blessing of working with MDS.  Bernie and Agnes joined us in our visit as they had worked with Helen and Jake also.
