We Remember You – MDS Update

October 20, 2016

Lititz, PA — Hurricane Matthew is gone but in its wake was massive flooding in the Carolinas.  Read about MDS going back to Princeville, NC to assist this town of 2,000 people recover from flooding. MDS was also there 16-years-ago after Hurricane Floyd. Also, new and urgent volunteer opportunities are listed in the update. We are waiting for your call. Come and volunteer with MDS.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Pray for all those impacted by Hurricane Matthew. The storm ravaged the east coast of the U.S. from Florida to North Carolina for several days in early October leaving behind severe flooding and wind damage, especially in the Carolinas. MDS Early Response Teams have been working in Horry County in northeast South Carolina cutting and clearing downed trees. Kevin King, MDS executive director visited Princeville, NC where the town was flooded forcing the evacuation of its 2,000 residents. The town holds a special place in the hearts of MDS volunteers because of the work done there 16 years ago after Hurricane Floyd. According to King, MDS will return if called upon.

Visit the MDS website for updates on the MDS response to Hurricane Matthew.

DIRECTOR’S BLUEPRINT

We Remember You

This has been the year of floods. West Virginia, Louisiana, and now Hurricane Matthew. In the past 12 months I have heard more reference to “historical floods” than in all of my 12 years with MDS. Recently, I visited Princeville, North Carolina where MDS worked 16 years ago after Hurricane Floyd. The town is now flooded by Hurricane Matthew. One of the first things I heard upon arriving in Princeville was “We remember you. You are coming back aren’t you?” We will be there…after all God remembers us, and we are not left alone. Thanks be to God!

Kevin King

MDS Executive Director
