Utuado, Puerto Rico, Weekly Report, May 27-June 2, 2018

Jon and Crystal Shellenberger
This was our first week in Puerto Rico and it was late in the week that we even made it out to the Utuado work site. We overlapped for a short time with David Conrad and our interaction with the volunteer group he was leading was limited to only one full day.
There were five volunteers from Canada in during this week. The volunteer group was working on the construction of a new church in Utuado. They accomplished pouring a slab floor for one section of the building and laid blocks on the exterior walls. They ended up getting the walls approximately two-thirds of the finished height.
One of the highlights of the week was getting to know Pastor Deborah and her family in Utuado. We appreciated their hospitality and interaction with the group.
This next week we have a group of five coming to Utuado. We are planning on continuing work on the church building as well as offering support and labor to Deborah’s husband, Rafael, as he works on the construction of their home.
One of the guys working with the Canadian group stated that these were some of the 10 most memorable days of his life. They all want to try and come back and see the church completed.
