Shekinah, S.K., Weekly Report, Aug 20-25, 2018
August 30, 2018
The Family Project at Shekinah has come to a close. We were joined this week by Kevin and Teresa Bueckert and their 3 children – Keaton, Seraya and Owen from Neuanlage, SK. Day Volunteers Gordon and Marianne Siemens from Warman, SK. Joined us on Tues, Wed and Thurs then Gord and their son Ryan were with us for Friday.
Monday was again our busiest day as Mike Neufeld, other volunteers from the community, and the camp staff joined together to build portions of the cabin #2. This included the chimney, installing the wall sections to the front of the cabin, building the bunk bed frames and under eaves of the roof, and also landscaping around the front of the cabin. MDS was busy staining more log siding boards and stairs for the next cabin. We say a big thank you for the extra hands that made this possible on Monday.
The rest of the week MDS volunteers were kept busy applying stain to anything that was not previously stained in Cabin #2, such as the frames for the beds, ceiling boards and the large frame pillars. It is such a relief to know the wall sections were all stained prior to being attached to the frame. Kevin Bueckert has built the remaining sets of stairs for upcoming cabins. Some sets are ready to be installed as they also received the Varathane clear coating stain.
We would like to say a special thank you to the Shekinah Retreat Centre staff and counselors for providing the fun activities of Wall Climbing, Flying Fox (Zip Line) and River Floating these past 4 weeks. These activities were enjoyed by most ages and made great memories.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers of support during this Family Project at Shekinah.
