Rio Grande, TX RV – Weekly Report – Jan 20-24, 2020

January 28, 2020

We continue to work on Angelica’s house in Mercedes.  Two decks were finished, one to the main entrance, and one to the side entrance.  The siding was installed, but some touch up will be needed as birds and/or trees stained it before putting it on the house!  We tried to wash it off, and even Awesome did not get the stains totally out.  The shingles were all done by just two hardy souls, Todd and Bonnie. Insulation was installed inside in all the rooms except for the bathroom, which is getting plumbing roughed in.  Ken and Fred worked on the plumbing outside to get it ready to hook up to the house.  We do have an outdoor spigot now that we can wash paint brushes or hands.  Funny how we miss those little things like water.  This home is in a neighborhood known to have people come and take things from one yard to their own, so the family is paying someone to stay overnight, every night, in a truck to keep watch over our material.  A few little things have gone missing, like hand sanitizer and toilet paper, but they are easily replaced.

Saturday night most of our crew attended the bull riding event in Mercedes.  It was fun, yet sometimes painful to watch the cowboys get thrown off. Most walked away limping or holding their arms.  Only a few made it all 8 seconds.  Everyone cheered when they made it!  Isn’t that what we are called to do—cheer and encourage one another?

Blessings from Ken, Rita, Lynn, Darlene, Todd, Bonnie, Lee, Kath, Stan, and Fred
