Ponce, Puerto Rico, Weekly Report, July 29-Aug 4, 2018
August 10, 2018
This week we had three volunteers: Kenton Baer from Pennsylvania and Dwight Huyard and his son Isaac from Virginia. The volunteers finished laying block for all the interior walls. They poured the bond beam for the bedroom closets and interior walls, added a bond beam above the bathroom and bedroom doors, and poured bond beams for the kitchen walls and the peninsula. The put plywood on the roof, covered it with the ice-and-water shield, and the installed the galvalume roofing.
We spent Sunday up at Playa Shack in Isabela, celebrated Nilda’s birthday (a couple weeks late, oops), and went to Chiro and Lery’s for pinchos (it’s officially a Thursday night tradition!). On Friday afternoon, the volunteers went to Cabo Rojo for some sightseeing.
We have a fairly big group coming next week. We hope to install windows and door frames, begin plastering, run conduit for the electrical, and finish the framing for the ceiling.
