Ponce, Puerto Rico, Weekly Report, Aug 27-31, 2018
September 7, 2018
This week, Kenton Baer was joined by his father Jim Baer, both from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Since this was our last week, we were racing the clock to get as much done as possible. They installed the porch ceilings, nearly finished the exterior painting, installed the kitchen cabinets, countertops, and appliances. They tiled the bathroom shower and installed the sink and toilet. They connected the sewer line, put in closets and hung door, and cleaned up the property, taking multiple loads of trash to the dump. They built another porch step, installed a light over the kitchen sink, and put in a gas line. This week was packed with social events. On Sunday, we went bowling with friends. Monday, a couple friends from church came over to teach me to make mofongo (and mayo, ketchup and churrasco). Tuesday, Nilda, Nicole, Norleene, and Carmen came over for supper. Wednesday, family friends came over to visit, and for a banana cake-making lesson. Thursday, we went to Lery and Chiro’s for pinchos, and Friday was the house dedication and the new house, and after that, the church threw a lovely going-away party for our family.
Kenton is staying on for another week to tie up loose ends, so hopefully Nilda will be able to move in the week after.
