Pollocksville, NC

Disaster Date: 09/14/2018
Project Status: Active
Project Needs: Repair work with some new builds
What Happened:

Hurricane Florence hit land in North Carolina on September 14, 2018 as a Category 1 hurricane. Florence caused widespread power outages and dumped heavy rain along coastal areas, which, along with a large storm surge, caused widespread flooding. Many areas received record-breaking rainfall, with some places measuring more than 30 inches.

What MDS Is Doing:

MDS volunteers will initially be staying at Woodmen of the World Youth Camp. One of our first jobs will be the Pollocksville Baptist Church parsonage, and we will move there after it is repaired.
Volunteers will primarily be focusing on repair work, with some new builds, in Pollocksville or Trenton. Initially, volunteers will also finish repairs to the Pollocksville Baptist Church parsonage.
