Pollocksville, NC – Weekly Report – Dec 9-13, 2019

December 17, 2019

This week our group of Volunteers is made up of a first time vol Richard from Indiana and six sisters and their husbands. Three of them are from Wisconsin and three from Ohio. They were driven here by a son to one of them and nephew to the others and his wife who are from Wisconsin. They were a lively bunch who loved to sing.

Dan was kept quite busy this week. Monday half of his group worked on Ms Matties house installing the picture window. The other half worked at Ms Berdine’s house installing vaniety’s, setting commodes and started the kitchen cabinets.

Bill took his group to Thigpens to work on vanities and commodes and some trim work. We will pick up where we left off in January, installing the kitchen cabinets etc. There were tears of Joy and many hugs given by the Thigpens.

On Tuesday Bill lead a group at the Parsonage installing the last doors, painting and little things to make it move in ready.

Wed. Dan’s group went to Berdine’s and finished installation of all the kitchen cabinet that were there and numerous other odds and ends. It is move in ready and we will install the other cabinets when we return in January. She called to thank us over, and over again and ended up crying tears of joy.

Bill’s group worked on a house we are partnering with Samaritan’s Purse.

On Thursday afternoon we started moving into the Parsonage. We moved all that we could. On Friday after breakfast we did the finally moving of our bed, the tables, chairs and kitchen supplies.

The ST volunteers left early right after getting the heavy things moved. Sam our Bluffton intern fly out in early afternoon. The long termers were a tired but happy bunch as we ate the last meal together, Leftovers from Terry and Emily’s good cooking.

The four Canadians fly back to the cold and Emily headed to Lancaster. Ray & Martha tied up a few loose ends and headed to Messiah College to see their Granddaughters basketball game before heading to Lititz for a Zimmerman Family Christmas dinner on Sunday.

Praising God for a good Fall project and the connections we made in the Pollocksville area.
