Pollocksville, NC – Weekly Report – Dec 30, 2019-Jan 3, 2020

January 7, 2020

Pollocksville MDS is open and ready for our first volunteers.

Ray & Martha Zimmerman as PD and Office Manager arrived on Thursday afternoon from PA. Next to arrive on Friday afternoon was David Theissen, crew leader and his father Wayne who rode along with him from Manitoba. Wayne will fly home on Monday. Then finally it was time to go to the bus stop. After waiting for a while we checked at the drop off and they said no gals got off at the last drop and the next bus was at 8:30. In the meantime we received a call from Bob & Sandy Martin from PA  saying their plane was delayed and they would be about an hour late. After a phone call we found our cook and her assistant at The Visitors Center across town from where we were. Dorothy Martin and Clara Martin are from Indiana. The Airport was our next stop to pick up Bob & Sandy Martin.

Saturday while the fellows went out looking at our jobs. The ladies worked hard getting the kitchen unpacked and put in order. Then it was time for a major shopping trip.

We went out for dinner Sat. evening this helped us to learn to know each other better. After a game of Five Crown it was off to bed. On Sunday we went to Pollocksville Baptist Church who’s parsonage we repaired last fall and now have as our camp. They welcome us and thanked us for coming back. So, come see us this winter, there are a few openings.
