Pine Ridge S.D. – Weekly Report – October 9-13, 2017
October 23, 2017
This week was a restart of the project after a pause of several weeks (since late August 2017). We were blessed to have a small, but very productive crew of four weekly volunteers. They were able to accomplish significant progress on three of the four new home builds currently underway.
The first home is nearing completion, with post-construction cleanup occurring by the end of the week. We hope to have this home inspected by an electrician early next week, the final step before the electric utility can be connected to the home. We expect a home dedication by the week of October 23, 2017.
The second and third homes are in the final phases of construction, with appliances and cabinets installed, and final trim and painting to continue into the next week. One of these homes is also ready for inspection by the electrician early next week. The flooring is finished in these homes. We have a goal of home dedications by the first week of November 2017.
The fourth home has not seen any work since the restart of the project. There is a roof and it is enclosed, but still, needs significant volunteer power to complete. Please join us in prayer for volunteers to come and see this house taken to completion and dedication.
Winterizing the camp has begun and we have already experienced a few days of sub-freezing weather.
We want to recognize our highly experienced crew leader and our wonderful cooks who keep the whole operation going with their loving work in the field kitchen.
