Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Weekly Report, Oct 29-Nov 2, 2018
November 6, 2018
Greetings from Pine Ridge, South Dakota
As we finish our last week here before winter break we wish to send all who have come before a great big thank you for your service. This week we had six volunteers from Manitoba Canada, along with eight long term volunteers and two short term volunteers from the preceding week.
The job punch lists were completed, and seven homes were completed per MDS requirements. Lynette, Susan, Molly, John, Ray, Kerry, and Gayne’s homes have been turned over to long term recovery. These homes are finished and cleaned and now awaiting electric, water, and sewer hook-up.
Tammy’s home has been boarded up for the winter. It has been roughed in and will need electric and plumbing rough in before MDS can start the insulation, drywall, and painting. MDS will complete this home in the spring.
Kim’s home has also been boarded up for the winter. Most interior trim work is still required and it will be completed in the spring.
Don’s home is serving as a meal service area and once this project is ready to close it will be finished for his use.
For the last few days the volunteers have been cleaning and storing materials for the winter. We have winterized the sleeping units, the shower trailers, and the kitchen trailer. This site will close for the winter on November 2, 2018 and we are expecting it to reopen in the spring. We wish to thank all volunteers who have made it possible to complete these homes. A blessing to each and every one who has served at Pine Ridge.
