Pine Ridge, SD – Weekly Report – August 12-16, 2019

August 23, 2019

First we would like to thank Duane Anderson from Indiana for his service as crew leader for the past few weeks. This week Jeff & Mary Schroeder from New Mexico came as volunteers. Dennis Lehmann from South Dakota also came to serve. Leo Martin from Pennsylvania served as an electrician to complete the rough in wiring for last new build.

We only had a small group of volunteers this week but were able to continue work on Merle’s home and the Volunteer Center. A lot of rain fell because of bad weather but we were still able to break up into two groups.

At Merle’s home Ryan was able to do all the rough plumbing and Leo completed the rough electrical. This home is now ready for insulation and then drywall.

At the Volunteer Center Paul and his group were able to continue this extremely large undertaking.  Floor joists were installed and hangers nailed. The group shimmed floor joists and started and completed stairs. Additional work was performed on the large garage door openings. Siding starter strips were completed. Sheathing on the building exterior and stairway walls were finished. Building wrap was completed and T&G flooring began on the second floor.

Tammy and her son, whose new build was completed recently, shared her story with our volunteer group Wednesday night.

Please consider volunteering here at Pine Ridge. The Volunteer Center will require many more hours of volunteer work, so if anyone is willing to provide assistance please contact the Lititz Office. Thank you for all who have come before, and blessings to each one who has taken time out of their busy schedules to assist here at Pine Ridge.
