Pine Ridge, S.D., Weekly Report, June 18-22, 2018
July 5, 2018
The week began with rain, which quickly became slippery mud – the kind an MDS truck can get stuck in…!
Our 15 weekly volunteers were varied in their backgrounds and interests, which created humorous comparisons and good natured joking. The dining room was loud with visiting and laughter.
Four houses were the focus of our building attention.
. Floors, doors and trim were installed at John’s and Kerry’s.
. Siding was nailed on at Ray’s.
. Interior and exterior painting was finished at Lynette’s.
The outing to the Wounded Knee Massacre site and a question and answer session with the Oglala Sioux Tribe’s Long Term Recovery Committee representative Maretta Champagne were enlightening.
