Pine Ridge, S.D., Weekly Report, July 16-20, 2018
July 26, 2018
Last week we worked alongside a group from Heartland Community Church in Manitoba. This group got a lot done, from insulation and hanging sheetrock at Ray’s house to finishing shelves and painting doors at Lynette’s. They also completed wiring, painting and flooring at John’s, and insulating the rooms, framing and siding, and painting at Gaylne’s.
We took them on the weekly trip to Wounded Knee on Wednesday where they learned about the massacre that occurred in the 1890s, and on Thursday we had Maretta and John (one of the home owners) come and share some of their stories and insight with us. Amidst our busy week we endured a pretty intense thunderstorm overnight on Wednesday. It slowed us down a little on Thursday morning due to the massive mud puddles in our dirt driveway, but ultimately didn’t put too great a dent in our work for the day.
This week, we have two groups serving alongside us – another group from near Winnipeg, and one from Powhatan, Virginia.
