Myrtle Beach, SC RV – Weekly Report – Feb 25-Mar 1, 2019
March 5, 2019
The crew concentrated on working on two places this week: Theresa’s and Pablo’s homes. At Theresa’s home, Millie, Dave, Jane, Lina, Al and Ed worked on installing laminate flooring, painting baseboard and installing base trim. A water heater was also installed. On Monday Catholic Charities provided lunch of pizza and breadsticks for the crew. Everyone appreciated this special treat! By Thursday, all work was completed at Theresa’s. Even though Friday was not a workday we all gathered at Theresa’s for an impromptu house blessing and the signing off of the job card as she had been out of town prior to that. We presented her with a quilt, handmade by our crewmember, Bev, and a Bible that we all signed. Theresa was thrilled beyond words.
At Pablo’s, Fred, Everett, Bev, Todd, Bonnie, and Pete continued insulating and hanging drywall on ceilings and walls. It is so great to see a broken house becoming a livable house again!
As always, on Sunday, we all enjoyed going to church together. Each week we choose a different church in the area to attend. This week we attended the church service held here at the Cypress RV Campground in the community center. After church we enjoyed lunch and fellowship at a nearby restaurant.
Usually everyone gets together for potluck after work on Thursday night. This week we all went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel on Wednesday night for our last night together. Three couples, Fred and Millie, Ed and Ruth, and Al and Lina planned on leaving Friday morning and needed Thursday night to pack up to get ready for their long journeys. Those who stayed to serve in March were sad to see members of our MDS family leave as they all had been together for 2 months. Many friendships and bonds were formed during that time. We wish them safe travels and a big thank you for their commitment and hard work during January and February!!
The good news is we are looking forward to welcoming 3 new couples to our MDS family for the month of March!
