Merry Christmas to All – MDS Update

December 15, 2016

Lititz, PA — In this week’s MDS update we give you the latest volunteer and leadership opportunities as well as information on the upcoming All-Unit meeting in Asheville, North Carolina and we hear from the MDS executive director in the Director’s Blueprint. We also want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. All this and more in the latest edition of the MDS update.

Prayer Concerns

With a little more than a week to go before Christmas, we here at Mennonite Disaster Service want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

We also want to remember those who have been impacted by a disaster over the course of the year and beyond. This can be a very challenging time of year so in the midst of our holiday celebrations do think of and pray for the people MDS helps and brings hope to.

RV Trailers for Leadership Volunteer Housing

Perhaps you had interest in volunteering with MDS this winter, but scheduling didn’t work out. You can still take part by supporting other hardworking volunteers with a year-end donation.

You may be interested in helping MDS purchase 12 new RV trailers to house leadership volunteers on project sites. Leadership volunteers need a space of their own, a quiet place of retreat from social pressures to recover and prepare for the next day.  Each trailer costs $9,200 and we have raised about half the funds needed to purchase 12 of them. Donations of any size are welcome to help meet the goal. This could make a great Christmas giving project for your church or family. Online donations can be made by clicking here (choose “RV Trailers for Leadership Volunteer Housing” from the designation drop down). For check donations, write “RV project” on the memo line and make payable to:

DIRECTOR’S BLUEPRINT

At the various MDS worksites our volunteers are often reminded by our project directors as they head off to the day’s hard work, “Remember, you’re the answer to someone’s prayer.”

Might you, dear reader, be an answer to someone’s prayer today? Is there a role above that you can fill?

Merry Christmas to all!

Kevin King,
MDS Executive Director
