Prayer Concerns
MDS has workers in more than 18 locations in Canada and the U.S. Please pray for MDS volunteers as they travel to and from locations, handle tools, repair and build homes and bring hope to disaster survivors.

Please pray for the families of the two Christian Aid Ministries (CAM) volunteers killed in a vehicle accident in North Carolina last week. MDS mourns their loss and expresses condolences to the families and staff of CAM.

Boots, Buckets and Barrows

In partnership with Mennonite Disaster Service, Ted & Company is presenting the original play, The Jesus Stories: Faith, Forks & Fettuccine. The play will be performed in conjunction with a unique auction of buckets (filled with breads and other homey items) and tools MDS needs to help salvage communities ravaged by natural disasters.

All proceeds from the auction benefit the continued work of MDS volunteers rebuilding hope and homes for families in need. Led by veteran actor Ted Swartz, Ted & Company TheaterWorks uses humor and professional storytelling to talk about issues of faith through live shows.
The show debuted last weekend at the MDS All Unit Meeting in Winkler, Manitoba. After seeing the show, one audience member shared, “I see Jesus in a whole new light now!”
If your church or community is interested in hosting this event, contact Ted & Company by phone at 540-560-3973 or by email at office@tedandcompany.com.

Director’s Blueprint
Last week the MDS All-Unit Meeting (AUM) was held in Winkler, Manitoba. Through the tears, testimonies, and teachings we were encouraged to continue the work of rebuilding hope. We were inspired!

One comment that stood out to me came from Maxine Laszlo, chairperson of the Long Term Recovery Committee in Saipan where we are responding to Typhoon Soudelor (2015).  She said, “the houses MDS volunteers are building will serve at least three household generations”. What a legacy!

I am reminded of Psalm 89:1, I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

May it be so.
Kevin King,
MDS Executive Director
