LITITZ, Pa. — Please pray for those impacted by Hurricane Laura. This storm is creating widespread damage throughout Eastern Texas, Western Louisiana and other parts of the south. MDS is closely monitoring the situation and is preparing a response. We anticipate sending an assessment team to the area when it is safe. The team will determine the short and long-term responses.

Mennonite Disaster Service is a volunteer network of Anabaptist churches that responds in Christian love to those affected by disasters in Canada and the United States. While the main focus is on clean up, repair and rebuilding homes, this service touches lives and nurtures hope, faith and wholeness. In 2019, nearly 5,500 volunteers, including about 850 Canadians, donated their time, skills and compassion to restore and rebuild homes, bringing more than 600 people back home after a disaster.
