Lake County, CA – Weekly Report – Jan 27-Feb 1, 2019
February 12, 2019
We had 23 volunteers working under sunny skies this week in Lake County.
At Susanne Koester’s home we repaired her fence. It needed to be straightened and strengthened with cement. She was so appreciative of the hard work that was done so quickly. At Albert Soto’s home the roof was shingled.
Janis Irvine’s home had the plumbing moved and the cement poured for porch foundation. The walls were prepared for sheet rock. The house was wrapped and the roof completely shingled. The floors were nailed, the doorways cut and the crawl space to the attic was widened and framed. The insulation was inserted under the floor.
Deanna Jones’ home had the backfilling completed and cement pads poured. Some work was done on the trim work that needs repairing. The hardy board skirting was completed and two decks with steps were built.
The sunny warm weather enabled us to get a great deal of work done. It felt good to be able to work comfortably while we kept hearing that the Mid West, East Coast and Canada were in a deep freeze. The homeowners continue to be amazed at how much work a group of young men and some older ones can do.
We said goodbye to our Cooks, Kathy and Steve Rhodes, Construction Supervisor Doug Goertzen, Crew Leaders Chris Koop and Steve Bell and his wife, our Office Manager Dee Bell. We wish all of you a safe trip home as well as our weekly volunteers who are either flying, traveling by van or biking. Two of the young men from New York are biking from San Diego, California to Jacksonville, Florida so they can say they completed a cross country bike ride. All the best and may God keep you safe.
Our plans are to continue working with our new team of volunteers on the four homes already in progress.
