Greenbrier, W.Va.- Weekly Report- October 29-Nov 3, 2017
November 10, 2017
This week at Greenbrier we had 17 new volunteers. A 10 person Amish group from Ohio and a seven-man team from Deleware. David King from VA returned again for his 4th week.
Our cooks Emma & Lena amazed us with their fantastic cooking. We are haystacked and cheesed up!
We accomplished a lot of hard work. Both the Richmond and Belcher homes have roofs and are ready for inside work during the colder winter months. We worked feverishly to complete Grandpa Brookman’s house and are having his house dedicated today at noon. What a celebration that will be. The last little bit of touch ups are being done. This will become a team effort this morning.
Ray and Martha Zimmerman the new project directors arrived on the first to lead the next volunteer teams coming to Greenbrier.
John, myself and Donalda Friesen attended the house dedication of Roger & Melinda Honaker, a project that was passed down to us. Roger is so thankful for MDS and with tears streaming down his face remembered all the Volunteer name tags that were placed under his flooring.
John & I have enjoyed our time at the Greenbrier project immensely and in particular love West Virginia landscapes, hills, and hollers. We have met some amazing people especially the caseworkers who are so dedicated to their cause.
