Grand Forks, BC – Weekly Report – July 15-19, 2019

July 23, 2019

This week we had a group join us from King Road Church in Abbotsford, BC, and their hard work was greatly appreciated. However, we said goodbye to several long-term volunteers as well. Deniece, Bethany and Sharon are heading back home to Pennsylvania. Eileen and Ernie are going back to Dawson Creek, and Cole has just finished his year of volunteering with MDS. All will be missed!

Because of the hard work of all of these volunteers and others not mentioned, we are very close to finishing a few houses. Volunteers painted the Walter house all week, and also hung some doors and worked on more trim.

The Grundel house is also close to finished. Bathroom cabinets and backsplash were installed, shelving was put in, and the attic hatch was completed. And, of course, a lot of painting and trim work was done.

All week long, volunteers worked on drywall, taping, and mudding at the Tough house, and it should be ready for painting soon!

At the McClelland house, mudding and priming was finished, and painting was started. A few doors were also hung.

A few insulation problems at the Redding house were fixed, and volunteers spent the week putting in drywall. By the end of the week, the entire main floor was finished!

A bit of work was also done at the Yates house working alongside some electricians, though progress there has been a bit slow.

The toilet and vanity shutoffs were installed at the Lester house, and tiling was installed around the shower.

This week Barbara McClelland joined us for a meal and shared a bit of her story with us, and on another night River Valley Community Church blessed us with some delicious food. These moments of fellowship are very much appreciated, and we look forward to continuing to engage with this community around us as we serve.

Blessings,

Ike, Ernie, Eileen, Ralf, Justin, Bethany, Sam, Abby, Sharon, Deniece, Cole, and Jon
