Conway, SC – Weekly Report – May 6-10, 2019
May 13, 2019
Welcome back to Conway, SC! This is the second week that camp has been open in our new location in Myrtle Beach following our shutdown in April. Long term volunteers spent the first week setting up the camp, unpacking boxes and finding just the right place for all the dishes, tools and trailers. Our long term volunteers are from Pennsylvania and Idaho.
This week we welcomed volunteers from Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. What a great group of volunteers who melded together to help our clients. Our disaster here in Conway/Myrtle Beach is flooding and our work is varied.
On Chris Austin’s home we removed all the under floor insulation, did mold remediation and re-insulated the floor. For Daniel & Tanja Edmonds, we took over the drywall that the owner had begun. So we’ve been taping, mudding and sanding this week. We hung doors, added trim and baseboards and have the home ready to paint. We’ll have that for next week’s volunteers to work at. We also began work on Clelia Turbeville’s home. We are completing the drywall finishing this week.
We had a lot of laughs this week, puzzle solving and lots of chocolate consumption. Blessings to our volunteers as they begin their journey home.
