Conway, SC – Weekly Report – May 13-17, 2019
May 20, 2019
Our week in Conway/Myrtle Beach, South Carolina started out with a downpour of rain on Mother’s Day. We were thankful for the rain, as it settled some of the pollen and freshened up the air. Sunday night we welcomed our twelve weekly volunteers from Virginia.
Our work week started with crews at three of our client’s homes. Work at Denise McCray’s home began with tearing off the old roof, repairing and shingling the roof. We also tore down the porch and porch roof which will be replaced later in the project. We began hanging drywall along with taping and mudding. We were pleased to have Denise and her sister Carol join us for dinner on Wednesday evening and sharing their story of survival of the flooding here in South Carolina.
Another crew worked at Daniel and Tanja Edmonds’ home sanding drywall and painting the home. The crew spent all week at the house painting the walls, and trim.
Our third crew spent the week at Clelia Turbeville’s home painting, as did the laughter and fun as everyone got to know each other better. We said safe travels to our Virginia volunteers as they headed home Friday afternoon.
Blessings from our long term volunteers: Robert, Sally, Christa, Steve, Raven and Jesse
