Conway, SC – Weekly Report – Feb 25-Mar 1, 2019
March 4, 2019
Spring has arrived in Conway with daffodils and many blooming trees and bushes. The mornings can be cool, but when the sun comes up it warms up quickly. The 11 young people from the Ephrata area that volunteered this week had a beach afternoon, while the 5 older fellows from PA and the 2 MD hold overs from last week stayed and worked.
Crew leader Dorothy, lead her gals in painting trim, at the Arsenenault and got it complete with what we had agreed to do. Dale finished Grainger’s, hanging doors and trim and other work to complete it. Dan led the young fellows in removing a roof and replacing it. They also gutted the Alston house and put new subflooring down. Maynard’s group put the cabinets in for Hymans to complete that job. Next they went to the Sherman’s where they trimmed windows, installed flooring and built a stand for the HVAC unit. Roosevelt again served them a catfish dinner.
Catholic Charities brought lunch in for all of us on Friday. The volunteers all went home on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Ray had an early morning airport run to get Dan and Irene Klassen and JoAnne Janzen on their way to Canada. Dale & Dorothy Messick went back to Pa after 5 weeks and Maynard and Mary Hostetler headed back to MD after serving 2 weeks. We thank all of them for sharing their time and talents with the people of Conway.
Thanking God for health and strength and safety here in Conway SC.
