Coastal Bend, TX RV – Weekly Report – Mar 15-26, 2021

March 25, 2021

Well, we are coming to the end of our time here is Rockport.  Most of the team will be leaving on Friday. It has been warmer here most of the time (except for our “freeze” week), so we were glad to be in the south rather than at home in the winter weather.

The last couple of weeks we have had a lot of plumbing issues.  We spent the better part of last week at the home of Cynthia Torres working on plumbing issues and redoing some drywall, door jams and trim. This was a challenge since some of the family members were in the house during the day as we were working.

The second new build in Aransas Pass was caulked (inside and out), and painted and trimmed on the outside.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to finish either of our new builds due to delays with the plumbers and electricians.

We have continued to work on the house of Elizabeth and Malachi Mendoza.  This is the daughter and son-in-law of Carlos and Elizabeth Leal who are great friends of MDS.  We have mudded the sheet rock that the CARE group installed in the kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.  CARE will be coming back in and painting these rooms.  We plan to do a dedication here on Thursday afternoon.

This week we painted more doors at the new addition Disaster Aid of Ohio has built in Woodsboro.  This is called the Tierra de Esperanza project which means Land of Hope.  They broke ground on this project on September 23 of 2020 and we look forward with great anticipation on the blessing of 13 of these homes on Thursday, the 25th and the rest will be dedicated in the middle of April.  What a way to close out of time here.

Duane and Bob have been working this week converting a bathroom into a closet in Gregory.  This is a house that Jim and Linda from our team worked on with the Coast Bend RV team last year.

We met up in Kingsville on Saturday with some of the member of the Rio Grande MDS team to enjoy the Kings Ranch Museum and Saddle Shop and for lunch.

With love and gratitude, Duane, Jean, Bob, Cyndi, Jim, Linda, John and Laurel
