Coastal Bend, TX RV – Weekly Report – Feb 8-12, 2021

February 17, 2021

Greetings from the freezing south.  Currently the temperature is twenty-one degrees, and the wind chill is 6.   This has been a busy week for those serving here.  We were able to finish the home of Connie who has waited three years to have the interior of her home finished.  She was able to have the roof repaired within the first year of Hurricane Harvey.  Due to roof damage, we had four ceilings to repair and paint.  We also installed a new half wall in the bathroom and added a thirty-six-inch door.  This was to accommodate her son who has a disability.  We added a new vanity and did some electrical work as well. Also added ceiling fans in several rooms and drywall in her garage.  We took out a wall between her dining and living room to make it a bigger space for her family. On Thursday we were able to do a “House Blessing” at Connie” home.  Connie’s family, and those from Long Term Recovery participated in the blessing.

The team started work on a new build in Aransas Pass. This home needs to be sided as well as finished from the studs in.  Some of the crew worked on the soffit and others started the sealing of the studs on the interior to make the home air proof.

On Friday we said a fond farewell to Stan Yoder as he headed back to his home is Oregon.  He has been with our team since November.  Then on Saturday we gave the white hankie farewell to two enormous friends, volunteers and exceptional leaders of the RV program, Norman and Carolyn Ringenberg.  What a tearful farewell for those of us who have spent several of our RV times with them.
