Coastal Bend, TX RV – Weekly Report – Dec 2-6, 2019

December 10, 2019

Well I think we are finished with our deck projects for this session!  They were great projects and we got to meet a lot of neat people.  It was a blessing to help them get closer to their new homes.  Some of these people have been living in temporary (most not very nice) housing for two years since Hurricane Harvey.

We moved on to a repair project for Domingo in Refugio.    It is about 30 minutes from our camp, but the trip is always fun watching for the long horn steers, the camels and the zonkey!!!!  We are putting a new shower and vanity in Domingo’s bathroom along with new sheetrock on the walls and a new floor.  We also put new sheetrock on the ceiling in his kitchen and put a new floor in there also.  We put some new drywall in a bedroom and painted it.  Also, a new front, back, bathroom and bedroom doors were installed. We have gotten to know each other well since it is not a big house and we have had 12 people in it most of the time.

We have started the dreaded job of saying goodbye to some of our family.  Ken and Linda left on the 29th and Dennis, Joanne, Ken, Rita, Jim and Annette left us this weekend.  That is the worst part of serving with MDS.  All that left this last weekend have made it home safe and the rest of us will head home this coming weekend.  We have become a close family (even if the Americans and Canadians teasingly fuss at each other).  We love and will miss each one!!!!

Blessings, Herman and Marilse, Bob and Cyndi and Doug
