Coastal Bend, TX – Weekly Report – Mar 2-6, 2020

March 31, 2020

This week brought us a group of hard-working Amish young men and women and an experienced finish carpenter from Canada! Between the energy and experience this group brought, a lot of progress was made on many houses!

On Wednesday night, two clients who are having houses built for them, Mary and her brother Tony, joined us for dinner and a time of sharing about their experience as a result of Hurricane Harvey. We enjoyed having them with us and are so happy they will soon have a new house to move into.

Mr. Gilberto and Ms. Mary’s house had the doors and trim painted and installed and closet shelves installed. The crew finished door hardware, installed bathroom fixtures and cleaned up the house.

The crew at the Bailey Street house finished installing the exterior sheathing, shingled the roof

and installed windows. They then built a side deck and started framing the interior walls.

Exterior painting continued at Ms. Sandra’s house.

Mr. Ed and Ms. Gloria’s house had a handicap ramp and stairs completely built and finished this week. Painting was done on the porch ceiling.

Ms. Jessie’s house had the kitchen installed, trim was painted, and doors were installed, and hardware put on. The bathroom fixtures were also put in. It is just about ready for her to move in!

A new house was started on Peach Street on Thursday, and by Friday it had three exterior walls framed and standing!

We were sad to say goodbye to crew leader Merlyn, who has spent the last several months here at Rockport. We wish him well as he travels back to Canada.
