Citrus County, Florida, RV Weekly Report, Nov 5-9, 2018
November 19, 2018
You have heard of the expression “What a difference a day makes.” Well here at Citrus County we say “what a difference a week can make.” When the 6 of us started Mr. Bill Breck’s house we all felt it would take a very long time to make this house livable, but here we are a week later and the home is looking good. The demolition has been nearly completed. This week Jim and Annette finished taking out the bathroom walls and floor and then started to work at building up. Cyndi and Carolyn worked at putting in the insulation, Jim and Annette put up walls in the bedroom, and Ken and Linda did the walls in the living room and kitchen. Many of the studs had to be replaced as most of them were rotted out so it took many hours and willing hands to complete the task. Bob worked diligently on rebuilding the bathroom walls to accommodate a new shower. We are praying for a new toilet to be installed this coming week as some of us had forgotten what it was like to use a bucket. Norm worked at making sure the electrical system was working correctly, and by Thursday when we finished for the week we all felt our biggest challenges had been accomplished.
It is such a good feeling when we get new members for our team. Tom Maciocha from Tampa joined us on Wednesday evening and on Friday Doug Goertzen from Illinois came for a month.
Last Sunday evening we enjoyed a visit from Larry Stoner. It is always a joy to get a bit of encouragement from the office end of the project and to be informed of how MDS continues to serve throughout the many disasters in our country. Thanks, Larry, for coming even if it was for a short time.
