Citrus County, Fla. Weekly Report, Feb. 19 – 23, 2018
March 4, 2018
This week we had a team of Norm Ringenberg from Illinois, Bill and Juanita Rupp from Ohio, Nevin and Audrey Mast from Pennsylvania, and Paul Schambeck, Bruce and Nancy Smith and Tim and Sherry French all from Upstate New York.
The women and Tim worked again at Diane and Drew Perry’s house located in Homosassa. We continued to paint inside doing doors and trim in bathroom and living room. Most of the cupboard doors were put back on in the kitchen, and a small part of the wall was painted to match what was already done. The outside house painting was started, while Tim removed the front large metal awing which he painted white to contrast the gray of the house.
Bruce, Paul, Bill and Nevin worked at the Peter North residence also in Homosassa. Flooring throughout half of the house needed to be torn out and replaced. Much of this area needed the underneath built back in as it was rotted away. Once the flooring was in place, linoleum was laid and a new toliet was installed.
One of the highlights of our week was when the local Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen asked that we all join them for a free lunch. We enjoyed ham, chicken breast, potatoes, veggies, salads and dessert. While we ate we were entertained by Senior Citizen Tap Dancers and one little three-year-old girl who danced her heart out. We were treated so well. It was a wonderful break on a very hot, humid day. Even though this center was very close to Diane’s home she had never been there so we highly encouraged her to visit it sometime soon. The other highlight was Ruth and Phil Richards (Phil worked on a MDS project years ago) had us visit again and they took us on a wonderful boat ride. It was so relaxing and a beautiful day. When we returned from the ride they served us subs and chips for lunch.
