Citrus County, FL RV – Weekly Report – Jan 14-18, 2019
January 23, 2019
As I reflect on our week at Karen Lyman’s and Shirley Warren’s, I realize how well the team is working together to accomplish the tasks given to them. It is fun to stand back and listen as they interact and have a good time together. We thought we were done with Karen’s home but have decided to lay new flooring in the master bedroom like we had done in all the other rooms. There was enough flooring left so on Monday the guys will put down that floor and then at 10:00am we will have the planned house blessing and finish afterward.
At Shirley’s home, the bathroom and living room ceilings have been removed and replaced. Rita has been doing the mudding (with the help of Cyndi) and is doing a superb job. The dining room butts up to the living room and is done in a very unique pattern that I’m sure we will not be able to duplicate but will do our best. When the ceiling was taken down we found that the insulation was some type of blown in, loose, fluffy material that landed on us like piles of snow. That meant lots of cleaning and sweeping. This coming week the eleven of us will continue on Shirley’s home, hoping to get it done by the end of January. Bob and Ken got the back of the house ready to put up new soffit after Carolyn had painted it several times to ensure water proofing. This week the soffit will be installed in the front and back of the house. Painting will also be done on the ceilings and walls in the bathroom, hallway and living room.
On Thursday afternoon, Shirley cooked us a big meal of chicken, green beans, corn on the cob, biscuits, salad and cake. While we were being served one of her helpers said that she remembered Norm from last year when we did the house of Verna Brooks. It turns out that she was a sister of Verna and a cousin of Shirley’s. It is a small world even here in Homosassa.
On Saturday evening the group traveled to a small Baptist church about 20 miles from here to hear a gospel quartet. A good time was had by all and of course we had to stop for Dairy Queen on the way home.
