What Happened:

Hurricane Florence hit land in North Carolina on September 14, 2018 as a Category 1 hurricane. Florence caused widespread power outages and dumped heavy rain along coastal areas, which, along with a large storm surge, caused widespread flooding. Many areas received record-breaking rainfall, with some places measuring more than 30 inches.

What MDS Is Doing:

MDS volunteers will be staying at Main Street United Methodist Church. Volunteers will primarily be focusing on repair work from flooding after Hurricane Florence. Most of the homes have been mucked out, so the work will mainly be insulation, drywall, flooring, kitchens and trim work.
