Baytown Weekly Report – January 19, 2018
January 25, 2018
This week our group continued to work on the Williams house. Damaged floors have been removed and new laminate flooring was put in place. Ceilings and walls were painted throughout the home. New exterior deck steps were put in place and the front door was repaired to ensure a tight fit.
We completed the work at Eddie and Ramonia Williams’ home. Our group visited a resource center they oversee. Sunday morning we attended worship with them as well. The house blessing planned needed to be canceled because of illness and the cold weather.
Next week we have two new couples joining us: Wayne and Dolores Yoder and Phil and Betty Chalant. Two new home repairs will also begin next week. One home was damaged by four feet of water. Work will include spackling walls, replacing floors and installing a new door. Marsha and her son Curtis Laird also had four feet of water in their home. Unfortunately, their home is beyond repair. Two small sheds have been purchased to convert into homes. We will be doing sheet rock, spackling and painting as well as installing bathroom and kitchen fixtures and cabinets. Our crew will also work on the electrical and plumbing.
We came to Texas expecting warm weather but we have had sleet, snow, cold wind, freezing temperatures, frozen pipes and road closings. We had no water at the campsite for 24 hours but are amazed at how quickly that all turns around with the warm sun returning! We were able to work for the full week.
