Baytown, Tex. RV, Weekly Report, Feb 5-8, 2018
May 25, 2018
There were six RV couples this week including the Project Leader and Office Manager. They came from Edmonton, Alberta; Huntsville, Alabama; West Jefferson, Ohio; Catoosa, Oklahoma; Fairview, Michigan; Devon, Alberta.
The group completed work on the Stevens’ house; flooring, baseboard, all trim painted, all interior doors hung, and porch railing repaired. Work was completed at the two tiny houses for the Laird’s; spackling, painting, electrical, plumbing and decks.
On Wednesday, despite rainy weather, with United Way and local newspaper were present when we held house blessings for both the Stevens’ and the two tiny houses at the Laird’s. In addition to the appreciation for the houses being improved, they all were excited and grateful for the housewarming gifts. In appreciation for helping complete work on these homes, the local contact person and his wife served us a delicious meal of tamales.
In the upcoming week we will be starting work on Derrick Fraser’s house that was damaged in the flood. Work will include insulation and dry wall repair, painting, mold remediation, flooring as needed, repair of kitchen cabinets, counter top replacement, plumbing, and door with trim replacement as needed. Repair work on a second home is scheduled to begin next week.
Marsha Laird said as she was leaning on her new railing of her deck/ramp, “This is where I will be having my morning coffee”. Her son, Curtis Laird, was overheard saying that the volunteers came in, told us what they were going to do, and then did quality work.
