Aibonito, Puerto Rico, Weekly Report, Nov 5-9, 2018

November 19, 2018

We had a successful week here in Aibonito with a five-man crew from Lancaster, PA. Lester and George finished the roof on Marriam’s home. George was the man of the hour as he did all of the work on the roof edge – safety harness and all. The electrical work is almost finished and was done by Jim and our talented volunteers. Windows and doors were installed by Lester, Ted, John S., and George. The upstairs rooms are now dried in. We can attest that the roof doesn’t leak as we are in the rainy season and have daily heavy rains.

We had building materials from Calle delivered on a tractor-trailer rig on Friday; we were expecting three smaller trucks! It included orders for repairing four houses and we needed to unload all of it. It was too much to do by hand. For example, the 3/4″ pressure treated plywood that we use for roof sheeting weighs about 100 pounds apiece and there were over 120 sheets. We needed a forklift. Harry had contacts in town and we borrowed one. Lester had his operator’s license and unloaded the truck.

In our experience I’ve come to realize that God sends the right people at the right time for the right purpose. The Lord breaks through when you need Him the most.
