We had a great MDS roofing project at South Bend, Washington. The local committee is working hard for funds and volunteers. Clients are calling in and there is more work in the area.
Our group was the first volunteer group to work in the area after the December
Storms. The local grocery store provided lunch the first day. The second day a women from the local church was happy to make sandwiches. Pastor Laurie and husband Gary barbecued Monday evening and the United church had a community dinner Tuesday evening.
The home owners were overwhelmed with gratitude. The owner of the house was a roofer in his working days. He was so impressed how our group worked together. He had ordered the shingles and they were waiting on the roof for us.
Our volunteers included Gene Claassen, Mike Claassen, Cleon Claassen, Stan Meyer, Reed Meyer, Craig Dorsing, Kevin Froese, Jim Wenger, Melanie and Chris Gering, Darryll and Linda Graber.
This truly was a great way to celebrate Darryll's Birthday.
May the hammer continue to ring HOPE.

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.
Your contribution will help to connect volunteers with disaster survivors who need assistance on their path to recovery. MDS depends on the support of people who believe that disaster response is an important part of helping those who are in need.
