South Dakota - Clean up work began on April 19 in Sioux Falls, SD, after a severe ice storm damaged trees.
Fort Collins, CO – High Park Fire
Debris removal and repairs continue
Ruidoso, NM – Little Bear Fire
This project has entered the rebuilding phase. MDS is anticipating working on siding, porches, decks, stairs and handicapped ramps.
Busby and Ashland, MT – 2012 Wildfires
Building pasture and corral fences to replace those destroyed in the fire. We encourage Units to organize a work week to help rebuild the many miles of fencing that was destroyed by fire.
A Youth Work Camp is being planned July 18 - August 16 on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.
Grandfield, OK
The Oklahoma Unit will continue repairs in the Grandfield area and is planning new a build response in a community near Oklahoma City.
Tornado Response in AR
On January 30, 2013, a tornado touched down near Berryville, AR. Many volunteers cleaned up and rebuilt several farm sites and walked the fields to clear debris.
MDS Binational Projects in Region III
Bastrop, TX – New construction continuing through spring of 2013.
Joplin, MO – New construction continuing through spring of 2013.
Minot, ND – Remodeling and new builds with a lot of electrical work through spring of 2013.
Region III Units are in the midst of planning and conducting their Annual Meetings.
Region III has acquired a new tool trailer, which when stocking is complete, will be available for use throughout the region.
Jeff Koller has been added to the Binational staff to cover the Disaster Response Coordinator activities for Region III and IV. Jeff will also be available to assist with the training seminars.
The goal for Region III for 2013 is to concentrate on updating the Church Contact Person list. We encourage all churches and units to have a Contact Person and to make sure their current information is registered with the Binational Office.
MDS Emergency Response Team (ERT) members from Region 3 have begun cleaning up tornado damage in Arkansas. Multiple tornadoes touched down on New Years Eve in Missouri and Arkansas. Six deaths are reported from the storms....[more]
