Responding Rebuilding Restoring

Weekly Report for Deweyville

February 13, 2009
Category: Deweyville, TX

Progress on the house for Miss JoAnn is moving right along. The trusses are set, the sheeting is on and we are ready to begin putting on the roof.

It has been an interesting week for our team in addition to all the work done. Three couples attended the All-Unit meetings in Mobile, Alabama. Others spent the weekend touring the River Walk in San Antonio, the Houston Space Center and other points of interest. On Saturday evening the ladies of the RV Team joined the ladies of the church for a Valentine party. The event drew 250 ladies from the church and local community. The RV team men helped the church men in preparing and serving the meal. It was a fun experience in joining with others in the Deweyville community. When we are in one location for a period of time we have the opportunity to become involved not only in building a house but also in church and community life.

February couples on the project are: Art and Judy Catlin, Project Directors and Office Manager, Don and Marilyn Buller, Bernie and Agnes martens, Jake and Verna Martens, Dick and Kathy Neudorf, Paul and Mary Stoltzfus, Vern and Dianne Willems and Walt and Pat Willems.

Volunteer

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.

Donate

Your contribution will help to connect volunteers with disaster survivors who need assistance on their path to recovery. MDS depends on the support of people who believe that disaster response is an important part of helping those who are in need.
