Responding Rebuilding Restoring

Weekly Report for New Orleans

June 26, 2009
Category: New Orleans, LA

The weather remained extremely hot and humid when the team from Harvest Community Church (Pennsylvania) arrived. Many in the team had served with MDS before, and knowing the routine, were anxious to get to work. The week was almost entirely dedicated to finishing the interior of the home belonging to Ms. Marie T. Trim work was completed and painted, closet doors hung, interior doors painted. Kitchen cabinets, counter tops and sink were installed, and plumbing was completed. Plumbing was also completed on all bathroom sinks and toilets were installed. Tile work was started on the bathroom shower walls. The dedication to completing the work was a powerful testimony in serving The Kingdom.

Time was also spent sanding and mudding at the home of Marie G.

A delicious Cajun meal was enjoyed in downtown New Orleans, and a tour of the French Quarter followed.

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”   Titus 3:8

Volunteer

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.

Donate

Your contribution will help to connect volunteers with disaster survivors who need assistance on their path to recovery. MDS depends on the support of people who believe that disaster response is an important part of helping those who are in need.
