Weekly Report for Deweyville

Much has happened this past week on Miss JoAnn’s house. The roof is completed, windows were installed in most of the frame openings, the electrical wiring is installed, work is progressing on the porch, and the cardboard sonotubes have been removed from the piers.

Entry to the house six feet above ground level is made by ladder. Once inside you notice something is very different from the plans. You look at the plans where the kitchen is and then one looks at the actual wall layout and you discover a modification has been made. The homeowner was concerned with how small the kitchen was. A suggestion was made to swing the wall from parallel to an “L” shape kitchen and the kitchen is opened up to the dining area and the result is a larger kitchen and a very happy homeowner.

Each morning the RV Team gathers at 7:30 a.m. for a time of devotions lead by different team members. After that our Project Director, Art Catlin, makes announcements and the Construction Foreman, Paul Stoltzfus lays out the work for everyone. This really clarifies the jobs of the day for both the men and women. The team members are ready and anxious to hook up the tool trailer, load building materials on the truck or another trailer and it’s off to work we go. Four miles down a winding road, partially along the Sabine River, one sees the house and the team pulls in. Many folk in the community travel that way and comment to us how they watch the progress of the house.
