Responding Rebuilding Restoring

Weekly report for New Iberia

Category: New Iberia, LA

We have worked to the best of our abilities to complete the jobs. Because our numbers were down to six we decided to do the final finish one house at a time. That worked really well and the home owners are pleased with the final work.

One of the owners has a disabled daughter. Being displaced has been hard on Sue. She has been watching the progress on the home everyday. When we were leaving one day, Sue arrived with a few pieces of clothes and placed them in her bedroom.

She announced “I am home”! Without any furniture she was willing to sleep on the floor just to be home.

Praise be to God! For letting us be a part of not only Sue’s dream but many others in need.

Volunteer

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.

Donate

Your contribution will help to connect volunteers with disaster survivors who need assistance on their path to recovery. MDS depends on the support of people who believe that disaster response is an important part of helping those who are in need.
